QuarkLab One-person laboratory Est. 2026

One person.
Many products.
Built to endure.

QuarkLab is a one-person entrepreneurial laboratory: finding real problems, building independent products, shipping them, and staying around to make them better.

01Thesis

One person can now build a portfolio of products.

Building software once required assembling a company before testing an idea. Models compress that distance: one founder can move from a problem to a working product, then keep learning from the people who use it.

The goal is not to imitate a large team or maximize output. It is to compound judgment across products — choosing what deserves to exist, publishing it, operating it, and improving it for the long term.

The human keeps

  • Direction
  • Taste
  • The last five percent

The models take

  • Throughput
  • Breadth
  • The first eighty

Nobody gets

  • Meetings
  • Roadmap theatre
  • Headcount

02Work

Everything the lab has put in the chamber.

Three independent products at different stages, each with its own users, identity, and path forward — all built and operated from the same lab.

03Six flavours

Quarks come in six flavours.
So do the rules here.

When the last two quarks needed names, physicists seriously proposed truth and beauty. The names never fully stuck — though half the literature still calls the b quark beauty. We kept both.

  1. u

    upShip upward.

Momentum is the only real asset a one-person lab owns. A shipped eighty percent outruns an unshipped hundred, every single time.

  2. d

    downOne layer down.

Everyone stops where the abstraction is comfortable. The work worth doing sits one layer below where the tutorial ended.

  3. c

    charmTaste is a feature.

Charm is a real quantum number, conserved in strong interactions. It is also the entire distance between software people use and software people love.

  4. s

    strangeBuild the strange one.

Nobody remembers the reasonable product. Strangeness is conserved in most interactions — and in every interaction anyone remembers.

  5. t

    topHeaviest first.

The top quark is the heaviest thing in the table. Do the heaviest thing while the day still belongs to you, not to your inbox.

  6. b

    bottomOwn the bottom.

Your data stays on your machine. Your model is swappable. No part of this lab should ever be able to hold you hostage.

04Method

How one person runs a lab.

Not by working more hours. By changing what a role costs — and being honest about which roles a model must never hold.

Role Staffed by

Direction & taste

HumanNon-negotiable. This is the whole job.

Product & spec

Human + modelHuman drafts it, the model tries to break it.

Implementation

ModelsRead line by line before it lands. No exceptions.

Art & motion

ModelsArt-directed, not prompted and accepted.

Words

HumanWritten twice — once in English, once in Chinese.

Build & release

NobodyScripted once, then never touched again.

Support

HumanThe one thing that must never be automated.

05Lab log

Recent activity in the chamber.

  1. CodePet — narrative engine now maps real git signals to campaign events end to end.

  2. quarklab.ai registered. Chose subdirectories over subdomains: one address, one lab, shared trust.

  3. CoffeePing — refining a slower kind of social connection through notes, photos, voice, and virtual coffee.

  4. GuliGuli — interactive narration now lets children interrupt a story and ask questions while they read.
